Lessons from Ecclesiastes: How to Be a Happy Human Being

Please read from the Bible: Ecclesiastes Ch.2: 10-11, 24-26; Ch.3: 11-15; and Ch.5: 18-20.

God has made everything beautiful in its time. He also revealed to humans the notion of eternity. Thus, it is better for mankind to know that there is nothing better for us to strive for than to be happy and to do good while living on earth. Eat, drink and do good things with whatever God has blessed you with. That’s truly a gift from God.

If God gives any man wealth and prosperity, it’s important for him to enjoy them and be thankful for them. God can keep a heart with gladness and peace, in much the same way that He can give a man riches. Thus, man has to learn how God gives to his people, and then follow God’s Kingdom of Grace and also share some of his God given gifts with the poor and needy. The more you give, the more you will be blessed.

One thing is very clear in my heart: there is nothing so important and valuable in this world than to live your life happy and to share your love and kindness with others. In summary:
  • We need to be happy with what we have.
  • We need to live closer to God.
  • Learn day-by-day.
  • Make sure you carry goodness in your heart without being judgemental.

What God Wants from You

God is very kind and loving to those who trust and believe in Him. What does God want from you? Psalm 15 explores that very question: Psalm 15 (King James Version) Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved. God loves those who go to church to worship Him. He loves those who go to sacred places to praise Him. And God loves those who strive to do the right thing always. So when you see a person who is good, smart, God-fearing and honest and who is one that everyone likes, then you mus...

The Woman Who Raised Me

Susee in Chilukuru, Andhra Pradesh (1981) I had the most pure, loving and beautiful mother. She was my best friend, my shining light, my first love, my baby girl and my hero. Mummy was filled with kindness, laughter, prayer and goodness. She was as fun-loving as she was solemn and wise. She gave everything to my family: kept us healthy, safe, confident and happy. I’ve always appreciated my mother for all these qualities and for so much more. But to lose her prematurely to devastating illnesses forced me into deeper reflection. I’m surprised that such a courageous and loving person ever existed and that she was my mother. She was selflessness and unconditional love personified. From the baby girl born in Narendrapuram to the woman she grew into: Mum always knew who she was. She was unwavering in her faith, lived as humbly as she did honourably and saw the best in everyone. Bullies may have tormented her but she never bowed down to them. She had the courage to face them, f...

Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind

John 9: 1-7 (1) As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. (2) His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" (3) "Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life. (4) As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. (5) While I am in the world, I am the light of the world." (6) Having said this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man's eyes. (7) "Go," he told him, "wash in the Pool of Siloam" (this word means Sent). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. (New International Version)
